UJC’s Leadership Development programs capture Jewish leaders at various stages of their volunteer career.

Leadership Development
Leadership and Crisis: Jewish Resources and Response

This is an eight-session course for the entire MetroWest Community, based on the Rabbinic Institute of The Shalom Hartman institute in Jerusalem, and presented by: Rabbi Amy Small, (Congregation Beth Hatikvah, Summit); Rabbi David Nesson (Morristown Jewish Center, Morristown); Rabbi Menashe East (Mount Freedom Jewish Center, Randolph).

Each session will include an introduction by one of the rabbis, Chevruta (small group) discussion of selected texts, a video lecture by a Hartman Institute faculty scholar, and a concluding discussion.

Ellen Sabin, author of “The Special Needs Acceptance Book” and “The Autism Acceptance Book” will speak on Community Inclusion and how to make connections or individuals with disabilities in our community.For more information,

Borinsky ProgramThe Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program is an annual program designed to provide Jewish adults, under age 45, the tools and experiences needed to become successful leaders of the Jewish community. The program provides participants with an overview of the resources and opportunities offered in the MetroWest Jewish community. This year we are offering two versions of the program.

  Leadership Programs
Adults

  • Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program: introduces Jewish adults under 45 to UJC MetroWest and our partners
  • Seymour Epstein Leadership Mission to Israel: inspires and educates current UJC MetroWest leaders through solicitor training and Israel education
  • The Jerry Waldor Institute:
    • JWI-Wexner Heritage Program: UJC’s premier leadership development program for a select group of outstanding men and women who have the ability to shape and transmit a vision of Jewish life and communal responsibility
    • JWI Fundraising Symposia: a fundraising program to train future Jewish community leaders to be as selfless, committed, and effective members of the community
  • CRC Israel Advocacy: opening dialogue and building bridges about Israel through a focused presentation and question-and-answer session, guided by a UJC MetroWest leader.

Teens

  • Iris Teen Tzedakah Program: teens learning to be active, informed members of the Jewish community and thoughtful philanthropists
  • Diller Teen Fellows: developing future generations of Jewish leaders who will be committed to the Jewish people, Israel, and community service by exploring Judaism and Jewish Identity; Community Service; Leadership; and Israel.
