JCF: Helping the Community

Since its founding almost 60 years ago, the Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) of MetroWest NJ has functioned as the planned giving and endowment arm of United Jewish Communities (UJC) of MetroWest NJ. The largest community foundation in the state, JCF works with UJC and its partner agencies to offer donors many ways to live generously, connect with our heritage, and build a vibrant Jewish Community. Together, we fulfill the Jewish traditions of tzedakah (justice/charity), and tikkun olam (repairing the world) – funding the basics, incubating new ideas, and devising strategies to make our dreams a reality.

Between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007, JCF and its donors awarded $19.5 million in grants to approximately 1,000 non-profit agencies. Of that sum, 80% – or $15.6 million – went to UJA and UJC and other Jewish charities.

JCF takes pride in listening to donors and helping them turn their vision into effective, exciting programs that benefit the community and ensure the Jewish future. In FY 2007, JCF and its donors launched and expanded a number of initiatives that benefit specific segments of our community, such as:

  • MetroWest Day School Campaign
  • Jewish Women’s Foundation of New Jersey
  • Building Jewish Continuity Through Camping
  • Jerry Waldor Institute (Leadership Program)
  • Iris Teen Tzedakah Program
  • Metro Transport Endowment Campaign
  • Grotta Fund for Senior Care
  • Frankel Challenge to Assist IDF Wounded Soldiers
  • Coordinated Care of MetroWest (Special Needs, Community Trust)
