Rachel Coalition Safe House
Rebecca was married to a doctor for 30 years; Janice to a successful businessman for 10. The husband of WS, a 38-year old mother of three, threatened her life. All three women and their children are struggling to overcome the emotional scars of abuse, and to make new lives free from fear and self-doubt. Their struggles have not been easy. At times they thought they would lose everything. But all found the help they were seeking from the Rachel Coalition, which provided crisis intervention, a safe house, legal assistance, and counseling for both mothers and children.
The Rachel Coalition provides short-term housing, with provisions for kashrut observance, for victims of domestic violence and their children. For reasons of security, the location of the Rachel Safe House is kept confidential. Client stays vary from one night to as long as 90 days. While in residence, victims are provided with regular counseling and case management services, and receive post-Safe House transitioning as part of their treatment planning. Direct service volunteers assist Safe House clients and their children as well.
Contributions in any amount are welcomed and appreciated. A gift of $3,750 will keep the Rachel Safe House and its services going for one month; $45,000 for one year. Your endowment gift of $1,000,000 will ensure that victims of domestic violence have access to a kosher safe house for generations to come. Naming and recognition opportunities are available and will be discussed with the donor.
