JCF Funding Opportunity: Training for Youth Leaders in Argentina

Training for Youth Leaders in Argentina

Each month, approximately 10,000 youngsters in Jewish communities throughout Argentina attend youth movement activities. Through their involvement in the various youth programs, these young adults are exposed to their Jewish heritage and the centrality of Israel in Jewish life. More than that, however, the young leaders who direct these activities are imbued with a personal sense of satisfaction and a desire to continue and broaden their own involvement in the organized Jewish community.

In an effort to strengthen the leadership skills, familiarity with informal educational methodologies, and knowledge of Judaism among these young adults, BAMA (the Jewish Educators’ House) in Buenos Aires would like to initiate a high-level training program. Each year, a cadre of 200 youth leaders and counselors, including 40 from Tucuman and the surrounding areas, would meet for a ten-day training seminar in Buenos Aires. The seminar facilitators would also help counselors establish a nationwide network for communication and ongoing interaction. One hundred of these young leaders would then go on to participate in the Israel month-long seminar.

Each contribution of $500 will underwrite the program for one young leader. An endowment gift of $2,000,000 will enable BAMA to implement this new training program, designed to groom the next generation of Jewish youth movement leaders. To recognize this gift, the Training Program for Youth Leaders and Counselors in Argentina will be named in honor of the donor and a plaque will be placed in BAMA. In addition, program updates with stories and photos of recipients will be sent to the donor on a regular basis.
